Vodafone Albania receives approval for legal merger with AbCom

Since the end of December 2020, Albanian authorities have granted approval for the legal merger and absorption of Vodafone Albania and Abcom. This approval follows Vodafone Albania’s acquisition of Abcom in February 2020. Vodafone Albania is now a fully converged company.

This is very positive news for business and the Albanian market. With the completion of the legal merger process of the two companies, Vodafone Albania offers customers both mobile and fixed services, as well as a wide range of new services and products.

Vodafone Albania plans to invest approximately €100 million to improve fixed infrastructure, aiming to meet customer needs in the new era where internet service is increasingly playing a crucial role.

The legal merger of Vodafone Albania and Abcom is expected to further develop the electronic communications market and stimulate competition in the fixed market, improving service quality and customer experience.

Vodafone has been at the forefront of bringing the benefits of the mobile and digital revolution to the country and has been a driving force in the development of the mobile industry in Albania. In 2011, Vodafone was the first to launch 3G services, introducing high-speed internet in Albania at affordable prices. Four years later, Vodafone introduced another innovation, the 4G/4G+ network, revolutionizing customers’ internet browsing experience and offering a new advanced level of speed and quality. In 2019, Vodafone was again the first operator to test 5G technology in Albania with a live demonstration of 5G speed and the development opportunities this technology will offer the market in the future.

Customer satisfaction is Vodafone’s main focus; therefore, the company has invested more than €1,998 million in Albania, including investments in infrastructure, spectrum, regulatory fees, distribution channels, human resources, etc. In 2019, Vodafone was the first operator to purchase frequencies in the 800 MHz band for €7.4 million. In 2020, Vodafone entered the fixed market by acquiring Abcom in February 2020.
