This year as well the Olympic Flame which symbolizes the opening of the Games was lit in the presence of the President of the Republic, Mr. Bamir Topi and will remain lit during 23-25 May, at the University of Sports in Tirana, where the Special Olympic Games 2011 will take place.  Throughout the 3 days of the Games, 300 athletes that represent 14 teams from several cities will compete in 7 sports disciplines; football, cycling, basketball, athletics, swimming, table-tennis, and bowling.


This huge organization is funded by Vodafone Albania Foundation, in cooperation with the Albanian Special Olympics, as well as a wide network of volunteers, supporters and friends. What’s special this year is that the Albanian Delegation will participate in the World Special Olympic Games 2011 which will be held in June 2011 in Greece.


Special Olympics is a global organization, currently serving 2.5 million disabled people in more than 200 Programs in over 180 countries, and the “Special Olympics” is supported by the Vodafone Group throughout the world.
