Vodafone Albania Foundation in collaboration with Young Women’s Christian Association of Albania (YWCA) has initiated a project to promote the human rights of Roma and Egyptian minorities. The project will be implemented in a school in Shkodra and in a school in Lezha, considering the large number of Roma and Egyptian children enrolled in the schools and living in the area. The project has three parts: children clubs, parent discussion groups and training sessions for teachers. The children clubs will be composed of Roma, Egyptian children and other children form the two schools. There will be created 8 clubs, including : History and Geography Club, Environmental Club, Music Club, Literature Club, Human’s Rights Club, Drama Club, Dancing Club, Traditional and Artisan Culture Club with 20 participants in each club. The parents’ discussion groups will be mostly with Roma and Egyptian parents and professionals form YWCA, as well as other parents will join in. This part of the project also includes training courses for Roma and Egyptian and workshops on children registration, possibilities of employment and presentation of state structures and NGO, which are responsible for the implementation of their cultural rights. This initative will motivate cross-cultural dialogue and integration of minorities through full enjoyment of their cultural rights.
