Domestic violence, youth school drop out, child labor, criminality along with other social problems are still part of society in the rural areas of high poverty indication. The project “Enhancing women, youth and children rights by art” is an innovative new way of youth and women education through contemporary mediums. It consists of training workshops and awareness campaigns through the medium of art, implemented by the organization Balkan Youth Link Albania. The project has taken place in the Paskuqan and Allias areas of Tirana, Berat, Lushnje, and Elbasan. Its goal focused on awareness raising amongst women on their rights, as well as raising the awareness of young people about the risks of school abandonment, children‘s rights violations, minors migration and youth criminality. Further, it aimed to teach art and increase the participation of women in social life, in empowering them to fight violence against women. The medium chosen to bring the above mentioned issues to a public notice was the photo-stories of community members in playing the roles. The topics comprised in the photo-romances have been the subject of discussions in six public meetings held in selected areas, bringing together more than 200 hundred people in each meeting. Five different stories were created, each on a different topic. A total of more than 1200 women and other 5000 youth along with their teachers and parents attended these workshops.
